Archive for 2006

Well what can I say, I have the most wonderful Christmas since I was a boy. Beth and I went to St. Louis to visit her family as we always do. We have a lovely time, we say Night at the Museum at the Ronnie’s IMAX and it was spectacular. Sunday we headed over to her X-inlaws and exchanged gifts and visited until Steven her youngest got home from work. Then we went to Arnold, MO and visited more family and had a wonderful meal.

That night we headed back to KC and got in about 2am. Then on Christmas morning we headed to Warsaw, MO and visited my kids with my X-inlaws and had another wonderful time. It was the first time I saw my girls on Christmas Day since my divorce.

Then today I took Beth to the doctor and got some more great news, they said that her cancer has diminished by probably 50% since her first scan on 11/3, comparing it to her current scan on 12/22.

WOW What a wonderful end to the year 2006!!!

Well as of a week or so ago we learned that Beth has cancer again. This after being 10 years cancer free. She had breast cancer the first time and now pathology says breast cancer and her doctor who is not convinced thinks it maybe lung cancer. A week ago last Wednesday (15th) she had her first chemotherapy treatment. This took 13 hours due to a reaction to one of the medications.

You can read more here.

We reorganized our storage unit for the last time. We made his and hers piles and then organized it from there. This made more sense, because if we move then I can grab my stuff to go we me and her stuff will stay behind since it’s stuff she is giving to her kids at some point in time.

Another thing we did this weekend was take her Christmas decorations and hauled them to where she works and began to decorate, I’ll post pictures when we get back today as we will be finished then.

Also since it’s just the two of us we have decided to have Thanksgiving today also in part that Beth feels well enough to have turkey. We bought a 15lb turkey so it should last a while.

As usual, it’s been a while since I have written. Well the repairs have held minus one little issue. We have a slow leak at the faucet fitting of the shower, I will work on this, this weekend.

We attended my brothers wedding on Oct 7th in California. It was not your typical wedding, but something that means more to them. I think this is how it should be, thinking outside the box, you only get to do it once so to speak.

We had a wonderful time at the wedding and meeting my brothers friends and of course seeing family again. The only downside to the the trip was losing a Sony 7.2Mp digital camera, I called the airport parking lot and it was not turned in. I did buy a replacement when we got to California which I wanted to do but at a later date would have been nicer.
Here are some pictures from the wedding:

Dining Area

This is the dining area for the 200 people.

This is where the ceremony took place.

Two ladies performing belly dance routines, after the wedding there were performers dancing on a stage with musicians playing ethnic music.

This is my brother, the ceremony is about to start. Behind my brother is my father, he will perform the ceremony.

This is wedding party, my father, my sister-in-law and my brother are in the middle. I am sorry I only got the guy on the ends name and it’s Darin.

This is my partner she is receiving a henna tattoo. It is done with henna die and can last up to a month or so.

WOW time flies. Well where do I start. We finally got the repairs finished, the slide that houses my office does not leak anymore, YEAH! The lower part of the tub has been replaced and it does not leak anymore either. Those were the major repairs and in my mind not that bad overall. I want to thank Paul Soptick of Heartland RV Repair Service of Tonganoxie Kansas.

Now we have two issues to work out with Keystone that were not approved in our original issue list. Number one is the fabric has permanent stains as a result of the leak in the slide.

The other is the “ink” stain in our carpet that regardless what we try it bleeds back to the surface. Keystone says that the dealer should have taken care of this which they did but it has bleed back since.

So now that most of that is out of the way it’s time to get ready for winter. We have some things to put away and cover. We also plan to skirt the RV when we get back from California to see if the heating bills are different. I also plan to make a heated water line for the black tank clean out (Quickie Flush) line that is built in to the Montana. Last will be the filling of the propane tank in front of our RV. Last but not least a final leveling of the RV as the rains have made things a little off.
I have not got to any of the “upgrades” I had planned while not critical they can wait till next year.

Well the power issue at the RV parks seems to have improved. We hit 104 degrees the other day and the AC was running at normal speed. While I will still buy an autoformer for days when it needed at least power supply has been better.

Last night we went to our first Kansas City T-Bones game. Is was a company function that brought us to the game. We were on a 3 tiered wood deck in right field. You can rent this for just under $800 and can have up to 50 people. It includes you ticket to the game, an open bar and catered food from Authur Bryants BBQ. There was sliced beef and turkey and ribs for meat and potato salad and cole slaw. I highly recommend it if you can get a group together.

Well we made it to the bottom of the fourth inning and the clouds got darker and the wind picked up. Next they covered the field and we decided to leave. It took a little while to get out and then we eventually hit rain. When we got home we noticed that the power had gone off for a moment. I checked the AC and it did not want to come back on. I checked the breaker and it was tripped. I reset the breaker and turned on the AC again. I waited for a while or so I thought and began to get bumbed out as it would not start. I waited a little longer and viola we have AC, the scene of Tom Hanks in Castaway comes to mine “I have created fire” or in our case “AC!”.

Well it was off to bed as another day nears.
