While not in my subject, Online Dating still sucks. I have canceled all subscriptions.

Ok now onto more topical events. Well the whiny UAW got there 15B (15,000,000,000 ) dollar loan. Supposedly the CEO’s and union employees are going to take concessions to make the Gov’t shiny and happy.

Well before it happens I want to call BULLSHIT right now and beat the media frenzy. The union is going to “suspend” the “job bank” program. This allows union working to receive 95% of their pay and benefits. This to me is one of the main problems with unions, benefits like this are why cars made here are too expensive. If I don’t work I do not get paid, these people are no more special than me. So since they are going to “suspend” this program doesn’t really mean anything. I can almost with certainty say the program with be gone for a few months if even that long. O one last thing, this “car czar” whoever this person will be, will be bought and paid for by the union. I say this because there are not many people who are truly honest. Do you want this “car czar” to be successful?, then let me do it. I am not wealthy by any means, but for the good of everyone I would watch these jerks like a hawk. For now I will keep my 10 year old Korean made car, shes never let me down and has been there during a lot of crap in my life.

Ok now on to Christmas, ops sorry “Seasons Greetings”. This holiday almost means nothing to me. People are more rude than usual, they would rather run you over than acknowledge your presence. People aimlessly wondering around stores like they have never been there before thinking they will get an “inspiration” and find your gift. Me, I shop with a purpose, I know where to get what I want, I get it and I move on. Thanks to the Internet I don’t have to deal with you Night of the Living Dead Christmas shoppers. I can buy online, have it wrapped and off to it’s destination.

Do others a favor do some research BEFORE you shop and make it a better experience for all.

Road Trip: Well we headed to KC again, we had just been there the week before. This time it was to have a biopsy done to make sure her cancer is not back. We are both in high spirits that things will be just fine, We drive up Thursday night due to the weather, they were predicting wet and icy roads. Well we were lucky, it was like driving in rain for 4 hours. The only scary part was the parking lot at the hotel it was just about a sheet of ice. Well we checked in and got caught up on our work and then off to sleep. The next morning it was cold but the roads were fine. It was 29 degrees in KC and at the same time it was 53 degrees back in St.Louis. Eventually the temperature dropped in St.Louis and it was near freezing there too. On our way home we found gas for $1.38! So the 500+ mile trip cost us less than $28.50, not to shabby, thanks Hyundai!!

Well if I don’t write soon Season Greeting I mean Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well Online Dating is still pointless but I am looking it as entertainment, if you took this seriously you would be a babbling idiot in weeks. Oddly enough I got an “email” from someone named Diane (I did date a Diane once) and this is what it said.

On 11/22/2008 11:22 pm CST, Diane wrote:
Hello, I am Diane’s friend, my name is Dana I am interested in your profile and would like to meet you or talk with you. If you are interested I can place a photo on here on Diane’s profile. If not you have a great holiday! : )
Dana

So thinking it was a friend of Diane’s I responded. Later that day Diane was in IM and I asked her about it and she said that she did not do that nor does she have a friend named Dana. So I have not heard back since my response, it will be interesting to see what happens.

So my next adventure was to go to FriendFinder and create a profile. This was entertaining as well, I was just barely done with the beginning part of my profile and I had 19 people interested in me. Places like Russia, Romania, Lithuania etc. Sorry I am not going to work that hard for a mate, there is 319 million US citizens and almost have are female.

Well there was a missing boy on the news last week and to make a long story short he was found 7 hours later about a mile from his house. He was interviewed the next morning and did not seem phased about the ordeal. Gotta love a happy ending.

Ok, Auto Industry, to me this is a simple answer one of 2 choices are viable.

Choice 1, We loan you the money under these conditions. You 3 join forces and start designing and making more hybrids (Diesel/Electric, all Electric, Hydrogen, Natural Gas) in 2 years getting at least 40 MPG and base cost less that 15K. As collateral you will put up all employee pensions, CEO’s and top level employees will not bonus nor make more than 200K per year. You will also put up every asset you have. If you fail, you lose all of it.

Choice 2: You file bankruptcy and figure it out for yourself.

Why the stiff choices? Simple, if we citizens live beyond our means we are not bailed out by our government nor should we. Corporations need to closely scrutinize their books, no one person should be in charge and they should invite 3rd party auditors to review their books twice annually. We have too many companies running amok and irresponsible people at the helm. When you are at this level in your career you should be held more accountable. Maybe if you are going to pay bonuses, maybe they should be in a”fund” of sorts. When you retire or leave it begins to pay you after one year. This is to make sure that the company is not in trouble due to you negligence. If you are found negligent then you forfeit the amount needed from your “fund”. If there is not enough then you loose the fund and that is the end of it.

Our government (really us) should not have to bailout anything, whether it be a “loan” or just straight cash. Most if not all of us did not create this issue so why are we being penalized.

Foreclosures, while this seems like a tough issue I do not really think it is. Yes we all want to own a home it’s the “American Dream”. Do your own homework with things like the Internet go to your local library and do the research. Think about things like gas bills, water bills, lawn care and regular house maintenance such as furnace/AC checks before purchase and yearly checkup afterwords. Sure we all get excited when you are buying something new, but try to buy it with the attitude that you do not “need” it. Treat it as a nice to have and don’t get sucked in because your friends bought a house.

Now mortgage lenders, first off I think all lenders are crooks but loans in this country are a semi-necessary evil. Very few people can actually save for a house let alone a car, me included. Well as we learned the lenders opened the gap as to who would qualify and now these people who believed they could afford such property are now SCREWED. Again let the lending companies that don’t know how to self manage fail. Take the mortgages that they used to hold and send them to a mortgage lender that is good in self managing. Let the new lender work with the people paying on the mortgage. This could be as simple as making the same payment you are currently making or negotiate a new payment based on a longer term. This would be more of a WIN-WIN situation. The new lender gets more business (rewarded) for managing his company well, the family get to keep their house that they have been paying on. Plus the lender make get repeat business or at least referrals from current customers.

Companies have gotten carried away with profits and lost the focus of why they are in business. Salaries are way out of touch with the world. The janitor is just as important as the security guard as the CEO. If the building is not maintained it is no longer an asset to the company. If the janitor doesn’t keep floors clean someone could get hurt and possibly sue (I hate these kinds). We if that person sues then the company looks bad.

Instead of paying millions of dollars to a select few why not spread the money amongst the employees or really nice health care. Just think!!!!!

One last thing, I was involved in some volunteering this weekend. I went to a neighborhood and handed out turkey diners. (1 frozen turkey, some potatoes, green beans, crackers etc) We walked about 2 miles total in 40 degree weather (which I like). Some people were very gracious and I love those people. Many we still in “pj’s” (@ noon) and more or less took the stuff like they deserved it. Many house were very nice looking, newer cars in the driveways (most less than 3 years old). I just don’t get people, just because you made a poor choice in life or inadvertently went down a wrong path at some point in your life does not mean that anyone owes you. Not your parents, your grandparents, pastor, school teacher etc. YOU are responsible for YOU!

Here is the organization I did the work for.

So if someone brings you a turkey dinner take a second and smile and say “Thanks”. Volunteering works both way, they want to help and see a smile on someone face, it makes it all worth while.

Well I have been very busy getting the rest of the things for my bike. The larger panniers (saddlebags) came, they are large, I have not had the time to stuff them to see how much I could fit into them yet. I am trying out a new seat, after all if this doesn’t work the trip would be more than a pain in the ass.

OK I have taken on a new project, since we are going to ride the Katy trail next spring I’ve been gathering data (places to stay etc) and making a nice file for it. I have Name, address, phone number, website (if available), email (if available) and coordinates. This is something no one has done so I am taking it on. I use a GPS for my other hobby and really like having a GPS. So I though why not get the coordinates for these places, there might be other people with GPS mounts on their bike. I think it will be nice to have, you have an idea as to where you are and how far you have to go. The data I am creating can be found @ http://thekatytrail.foreverdigital.net I hope you find it useful.

Ok time for another rant, yes it’s online dating and how it still a joke, I have begun to take it as serious as I take our government. (NOT) There is nothing in my profile that says I am interested in trolls. I am sorry there are very heavy people in world, sure I am a tad heavy but I hike and bike. Also what is it about me that says I am interested, NOTHING. So why do dating sites and heavy people try to set me up. Now there about 12 women that are “close” to what I would like (per the dating engine) I would honestly say I would date 10 of them for sure, the other 2 are not bad either just not my top 10. As usual I have sent “icebreakers” I have send emails, what do I get in return ………………. wow I can hear a pin drop.

Well I will eventually have more pics of the bike, but daylight is short and the weather is getting colder

Enjoy and have a great day.

Well since the last writing I thought that I would share some pictures of the MTB and other ramblings.

Cages: (2) Topeak Modula Cage EX plus X-15 Adapters
Bottles: (2) Novara Circle N Water Pop Top Bottle – 28 oz. (REI # 724207)

I may change the bottles out as I do not think they will match the bike as well as I had thought.

Well this is what I am going to ride next year for 225+ miles along the Katy Trail. I have some other research to do. I think I might leave the folding panniers in and buy some larger one and mount then on the rear rack. I will skip getting front ones and force myself in to being a minimalist as I am at home.

I have created a Katy Trail Excel file for all of my planning and am working on some other great files for the journey. If you want a copy just let me know. When I am finished I will post them, until then just ask.

Yes I know these do not have much to do with one another but these are the current things going on in my life.

Online dating, the saga continues. Well I have left my profile alone for almost a week and still nothing has changed. I sent a few emails to people of interest and guess what no one responded and one profile was removed. I am guess that was because they weren’t a “real” person. I think I will let this subscription end and be done with it. I think my life would be far simpler by just enjoying my hobbies, watch some porn or go to a strip club, than the effort it takes to meet someone. I have some friends to do things with.

MTB (Mountain Bike), well I have decided to get back into riding my bike and have been going on random rides and some organized Sunday rides. The Katy Trail is a lot of fun. When I moved away 12 years ago the Katy was just opening so I more or less missed the opportunity. Well it’s in my backyard and I am glad to have the easy access to a different kind of highway. I have ridden from St.Charles east to the current of the gravel and west to just past the Page Ave. Extension (Highway 364). I have also ridden up to the 364 bridge and grabbed a geocache (my other hobby).

Well after getting reacquainted with the old bike and the joy of riding again, I have a mission. I want to ride the entire Katy Trail (225+ miles) in the March / April 09 time frame. So far my longest distance is about 11 miles and I had no issues. No pain, discomfort etc. Sure 40-50 miles a day is a lot more and I will increase my distance so I get a better feel for it, but I think I can really do this. I also think it would be a nice accomplishment to have under my belt. I have read that Missouri is working on getting the Katy Trail to Kansas City, that would be a fun ride as well.

Back to my earlier mention of geocaching, I have created a file with all of the geocaches along the Katy Trail. Some of these are in the middle of no where so it will be nice to have these done as well.

I am planning to do the trail in 4 days but leaving an extra day for issue that may come along. I have created an Excel file with all of my planning on it. It contains the equipment for my bike, things to consider taking along, county emergency numbers (Sheriff and Hospitals). I have been reading about racks and bags for my bike and am considering a trailer since Beth and I are going and the only weight on her bike will be her and water. Her recent remission of lung cancer has left her breathless quite easy and besides me being a little overweight I am in very good health.

Well if anything you read sparks a question or you would like to see my planning sheet just subscribe to the blog and ask me.

Enjoy your day and may you dreams come true!
Nite.
