Had to remove elves link as it no longer functions.

To start off this post I bought a new to me car. It’s a 1987 Lincoln Town Car “Linc”, white with dark blue interior. Overall the car is somewhat near flawless, for $1000 I could not pass it up since I have been looking for a road car. What is a road car? It’s a car that you can drive for hours and are comfortable the whole time. The car has some quirks as it’s 20 years old but they are easy simple repairs. Of course your thinking to yourself “what the heck do you want with a 20 year old gas guzzler”. Simple I have no need for a car payment and a good solid car is hard to come by in the midwest due to winters.

Well we just got back from a spectacular week. We took Linc on a 800 mile journey. First stop was Branson Missouri to see the Andy Williams Christmas Show, what can I say. This is the second time I have seen him, see my June post and it’s a great show and worth your time. Apparently this was his “new” Christmas show which involves The Williams Brothers (not related) that tap dance. Then there is The Warnocks they are a whole family that sing with Andy on some numbers. Lastly there was a russian couple who danced and did illusions that involved the changing of their costumes.

The next morning it was back on the road to St.Louis for a show I have wanted to attend for years, Neil Young. The show was at the Fox Theater which is beautiful place for any venue. The opening act was Neil’s wife Pegi, I can tell you that this lady holds in own just fine. I am not sure if her music is inspired by Neil but you can hear similarities. She did about a 30 minute set and did a wonderful job and I look forward to owning her CD. Then Neil’s set almost 2.5 hours long was exceptional to say the least. For a guy 62 years old, having a brain aneurysm removed in 2005 Neil rocked the house to the floor. He opened with about a 30 minute solo acoustic set switching guitars and pianos. Then there was the rest of the concert with long time friends/musicians. He mostly covered his newer songs as I counted only 3 songs from the “past”. I have not kept on Neil’s latest 2 or 3 albums but if the show was any indicator, they must be purchased. One song he did “No Hidden Path”, I have not heard the “CD” version but he went on a probably 20 minute semi-solo guitar playing that was a thing of beauty. All I can say no matter the cost Neil is completely worth every penny.

Update: I have purchased Chrome Dreams II and it’s more like his older stuff. Some of the songs are “rock”y and others are more “folk”y. Spirit Road and No Hidden Path are probably my favorites from this album.

Well a few things have happened since the last post. If I didn’t work so much I might have more to write about. We last left off in June. So that leaves July, August, September.

A lot of July was spent Geocaching, this involves using a GPS some coordinates and some time. As of now we have 47 finds, not a lot overall but this is a nice “hobby” because you can choose when/where to do it. We have run into some interesting ones. There was a plastic squirrel mounted to the side of a tree, a small canister that had to be pulled by a string as it was in a hole in a tree. Lots of canisters are army ammo boxes. I would go on but you can read the Geocaching site if and when you want. Trust me it is fun and the places you discover may surprise you.

Then Aug came along, this is a busy month for us, lots of birthdays and anniversaries, mine included. Well we had to pass financially on going to California to my grandmothers 80th which was a letdown but understandable. The upside was that I got to see my girls and celebrate one of their birthdays and mine. Some Geocaching happened this month as well but not as much.

Now Sept., this is the month to start preparing for winter, why so early you ask? It’s simple, the weather can change and before you know it, your trying to make sure your water line heaters are working and it’s 30 degrees outside. So the extra hoses are rolled and drained, the roof has been cleaned and checked, stabilized the RV. Next will make sure the outside faucet is wrapped well, put the awning away, cover the grill, rake leaves, bring in plants, skirt RV, clean out water heater (remove calcium), replace water filter and cover AC unit on roof, that should do it, now to the cars.

October, another birthday month for us, my partner Beth and my oldest daughter. This month the girls are coming down for the weekend so we can celebrate the birthdays. Beth and I are also going to St. Louis to visit her family. When this is done it will be Halloween my favorite holiday. Screeeeeecccccchhhhh

Well much has happened since my last post. My girls came down for a weekend and we went to the KC Zoo and while we were there we rode on a camel. We also took some great pictures of some of the animals there.

Beth and I also received some last minute tickets to the Kansas City Speedway. Beth thought it would be better if she stayed home and rested, so I invited a friend of mine from work.
As for the truck that is on hold for probably the rest of this year due to other projects that I want to take on instead. Plus we have a lot of small trips in store during the rest of this year.
Also my best friend and his family came down for the weekend and we went to a Kansas City T-Bones game and had a nice time there as well.
We also went to Bransen Missouri and saw Andy Williams and Glen Campbell in concert. This was a big event for Beth and these are two of her favorites and she wanted to see them before something happened to them or her. Being younger I did not know all of the songs but knew more than I thought. We stayed in a lovely hotel, the Gazebo Inn and our room was called the Victorian Suite. It was a very nice room with a jacuzzi tub and a king size bed. I called the day before we left and asked them to have a dozen carnations (Beth’s favorites) delivered to our room. We arrived a little early and during check-in I later learned that the flowers were sitting in plain site when we walked in and neither of us noticed. Eventually we were allowed into our room since it had been stayed in the night before. Beth still didn’t notice the flowers and began to talk about the room. I kept glancing towards the flowers and then she noticed and was very excited. For dinner we went to the Blue Moon Grille and Adam was our waiter, he did a fine job and was very patient with us. The food is good and reasonable for a tourist area. After dinner we walked over to the theater. I bought Beth some souvenirs and she bought herself a few signed CD’s. The next morning we headed out for some geocaching (something new for us) and found all 4 we planned on looking for. We met a fellow geocacher (MarkandSons) and spent a few minutes with him talking about “caching”. Then we headed back to KC,KS. About half the way home Beth looked at me and asked if something was wrong and I said that I was sad. She asked why and I said that we had forgotten the flowers. We called the Gazebo Inn and Amber (who called in the flower order for us) answered the phone. We explained what had happened and asked if she would take a picture of them for us. She said she would, and will email it to us. (Amber, if you ever read this entry you are a complete sweetie and we love you for the effort.)

Well time for pictures of the last 3 months.

Well as usual it’s been a while since I have posted. We have been busy with things like work and B getting treatment for cancer. For the most part things are going well there is some new information but we are waiting until the full scoop is divulged.

We have developed a small leak in the bedroom slide which I am waiting for the weather to cooperate so I can seal it with Dicor. I was able to unplug the heated water lines outside as we have not seen below 40 degrees in a while. So it’s also getting time to clean the outside of Forever (rv) and get her clean for the season.

I have begun research on purchasing Digital (truck). Currently I am looking at HDT’s (heavy duty truck). An HDT is a tractor as in 18 wheeler, now some of you know that Forever is a 12,000 rv and that an HDT is overkill. BUT, if you really think about it we are worktimers now and I will pseudo retire in about 10 years working as needed. So purchasing a new or used HDT with the miles we would drive makes the HDT last forever. Plus if we decide to upgrade to a heavier rv we won’t have to go the route some do and sell the truck too, we just get the rv we want and on down the road we are.

I will eventually create a new addition to this site once I have enough information.
